The Fantastic Four team of superheroes and the Fantastic Four costumes were created in November of 1961 and was the first superhero team to be created by Stan Lee and Marvel Comics.  The Fantastic Four comic book was also the beginning of Marvel Comics rise to fame and Glory.  This Fantastic Four comic book series additionally lays claim to being one of the few that is still on publication since its original creation in 1961.

The Fantastic Four gained their super powers after being exposed to a special brand of cosmic radiation while in space.  The four members of the team are Reed Richards, Sue Storm Reed Richards wife, her younger brother Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm Reed Richards former college roommate.

Ben Grimm (The Thing)

• Depending on your point of view Ben may have gotten the worst end of the deal.  His skin was changed to a rock like substance and his physical size nearly doubled.  On the other hand though he was endowed with super strength, is nearly impervious to damage and only has to wear half of the Fantastic Four costumes.

The Punisher is truly one of the great anti-heroes in the Marvel Universe of characters employing murder, torture, kidnapping and other violent means in his effort to take down crime.  The Punisher’s real name is Frank Castle and he was driven to his unique form of crime deterrents when his family was murdered by the mob after witnessing a contract hit.  Punisher is a one man army and has very few recurring criminals in his stories since most of them wind up assuming room temperature at the end.

Punisher Adult Costume

The Captain America costume is probably one of the most recognizable superhero costumes in the United States and is second only to Superman. Captain America came to life in 1940 as a purely patriotic figure and was a response to the Nazism that was running rampant in Europe. Rogers is given the Captain America costume and shield, which are designed to resemble the American flag.  The shield is made out of a newly discovered metal and his bulletproof and light enough to be thrown like a Frisbee and when angled correctly returns to the thrower.  Captain America’s main foe for the 1940s was Red Skull who was NAZI Germany’s Head of Terrorist Operations. There are other villains, such as The Fang, Black Talon and White Death included as well that have been battled.

Captain America actually has no super powers, he is simply the peak of human perfection, but here are some of the abilities that he does possess.

• Captain America’s strength, healing, reflexes, speed and durability are all greatly enhanced do to the Super-Soldier serum.
• He also cannot be affected by alcohol (bummer).
• Rogers’s intelligence makes him a great field commander and strategist.
• His bulletproof shield is so effective as a weapon that he is forgone wearing a pistol.
• He’s also skilled at martial arts and hand to hand combat.

In 1962 Marvel Comics’ Stan Lee created a large creature known as The Hulk. The Hulk was meant to embody all the worries people at the time had about radiation and what would happen if we went too far in our experimentation with it.  He is also said to be a cross between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Frankenstein’s monster.

Yes Hulk as is a formidable figure to say the least and it’s probably his sheer power that makes him such a popular superhero character.  The Hulk costume though is one of the few that is not available in the female counterpart, which is strange considering the She Hulk has been around since the 1970s.
