In 1962 Stan Lee, who at the time was Marvel Comics editor-plotter had a dilemma, which was, he just created The Hulk the most powerful human being in the world and the question was.  How do we out do that?  Lee’s answer was to make him a god and a Norse God at that. At that moment Thor the fictional superhero from Marvel Comics began to take shape along with the Thor costume.

Thor is one awesome force to reckon with and he sports one of the most impressive lists of super powers available to any superhero.  This list includes but is not limited to:

• He is immoral as long as he continues to consume The Golden Apples of Idunn, which sustain his life span.
• Physically he is the strongest inhabitant in Asgard.
• He is able to enter a physical state called “Warriors Madness” which increases his strength ten times. In this state though he doesn’t care whom he attacks.
• His resistance to injury makes him almost invulnerable.
• He has the ability to track items traveling faster and speed of light, has super hearing and he can travel through time.
• Thor has the ability to self-regenerate, which means he can regrow lost limbs or damaged organs.
• When you add the enchanted Belt of Strength to the Thor costume his strength and endurance are one again doubled.
• Super speed and reflexes are also part of his abilities.
• He is immune two all earth borne diseases.
• He can command the elements, such as lightning wind and rain.
• Oh and did I mention that he can fly?  He can do this by throwing his hammer (Mjolnir) in the direction he wants to go and hanging on.

And this is just a short list of what Thor is capable of, which makes a Thor costume a great choice for this Halloween or any costume party you may be thinking of attending.  The feature length film that was released in early 2011 has also added popularity to Thor’s character and some nice redesigned features to the Thor costume.
