Where did marvel costumes get their start? Well Marvel Comics of course. Marvel Comics in real life is actually Marvel Publishing Incorporated, which is a company that had its beginnings back in 1939 as Timely Publications. In 1950 though Timely changed its name to Atlas Comics with that alias lasting until 1961 when the first Marvel comic book was published. That first Marvel comic book superhero team was the Fantastic Four and was written by the now famous Stan Lee.

After this initial 1961 publishing many of our now famous superheroes soon came into existence. Superheroes the likes of Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, The X-Men and Daredevil all had their beginnings in the sixties. These great characters coupled with a new way of comic book storytelling, which had heroes that look liked villains and monsters was something new and proved to be very effective. Stan Lee and his partners can be credited with revolutionizing the way comic books were published.

With superheroes on the ascendancy it didn’t take long before Marvel costumes based on these heroes started to become popular for Halloween, costume parties or birthday parties. Marvel costumes of Spiderman, Iron Man, Thor and Dr. Doom just to name a few are costumes that are readily available for purchase. There’s no telling which Marvel costume will be the most popular from year to year, since every superhero movie that gets released has the potential of making its character one of the most popular.

While it’s hard to tell which Marvel costumes will be the most popular this year, there are few that continue to do well year after year. Here are few of the perennial most popular.

Yes these are the Marvel costumes that do well every year, but what will this year’s big hit be? As computer generation of superhero characters and their feats becomes simpler and simpler to accomplish more than likely you will see more movies revolving around this theme. Some of the recent superhero offerings brought to the theaters have been Thor, Green Lantern and Captain America; it will be interesting to see if any of these two superheroes rises to the lofty heights of number one this Halloween.

While it may be getting simpler to create superhero movies due to more powerful computerized special effects, there has to be a driving force behind the film creation. One of the driving forces (in Marvels case) I believe is the fact that in 2009 Marvel Entertainment Incorporated was purchase lock stock and barrel by the Walt Disney Company. This could be a good part of the exclamation as to why Marvel comic book characters have it the silver screen in extraordinary numbers. All I can say is keep it up.
